Christy & David – Cornwall Wedding Photographer

I have known David for several years, having photographed him and his band Happy Penguin Hungry Bear for their promotional images as well as their live gigs. When he asked me to be the photographer for his wedding to Christy outside a small chapel at the top of the hill overlooking St Ives Bay in Cornwall, it sounded stunning and I just had to.

They had their official ceremony the day before at the Town Hall so this was to be their humanist blessing, with an intimate guest list and a beautiful backdrop of the jurassic coastline of Cornwall. Spring weddings can often be tricky to shoot. Earlier sunsets, uncomfortable temperatures and pesky rainfall can all bring their complications, but not today. Today was different. Today was sunny and bright, warm and dry with only a little wind at the top of the hill which gave me a helping hand to make Christy’s gorgeous dress come to life during her portraits.

David’s tweed suit with gold pocket-watch and Christy’s beautiful yet understated dress and floral headpiece gave an effortless style and elegance to their day. They had put a lot of thought into their day yet it was natural and simple. Uncomplicated and true.

Around thirty guests witnessed the calm and meaningful ceremony outside St Nicholas’ chapel and then made their way down the hill to the cosy Porthgwidden Beach Cafe, which was dressed with bunting and spring flowers while I was spoiled with countless stunning views along the clifftops and beach against which to capture Christy & Dave, happy and in love on their wedding day.

Laughter and smiles ensued later, courtesy of some fabulous speeches by Christy’s father, stepfather and David’s brother / Best Man, John and a lovely poem by David’s mother and while the moon danced on the shore-line, Christy, Dave and their guests danced into the early hours with their wonderful family and close friends.

It was perfect.
