Amy & Mark – Westerham Wedding Photographer

One of the best things about a wedding is the coming together of families. Life is busy. Before we realise it, another year has passed by without having had a good catch up. A wedding can right that wrong. A wedding also brings the joining of two families into one and it’s a pleasure to photograph a wedding where it’s evident that union is already an established and prosperous one.

Amy and Mark’s families came together at their wedding at Biggin Hill and Westerham Golf Club but they clearly had years of good times together in their back pockets. It was more like one massive family and a huge bunch of mates celebrating Amy & Mark’s love for each other. The glue that joins them all together.

Upon arrival at Amy’s parents’ house I felt instantly welcomed by Amy’s lovely parents and the laughter that would weave throughout the day was already in full swing, helping to calm Amy’s nerves. Marks’ brothers who were also his Best Men were ensuring the mood was mirrored over at St Mark’s Church while he greeted his guests and awaited Amy’s arrival. After the beautiful ceremony the church was littered with smiling faces chatting together rather than sitting on separate sides.

Most families don’t usually like posing for the group photos but Amy & Mark’s families laughed so much throughout theirs at Westerham Golf Club they made for much more interesting ones and I just had to include them. The laughter continued throughout some cracking speeches by Amy’s Dad, Mark and his Best Men and after Amy & Mark’s romantic first dance to Etta James’ At Last, not only did Amy dance with her Dad but Mark danced with his Mum and Amy’s brother Frank danced with his Mum.

Families can be tricky at times. What is it they say? “You can choose your friends but you can’t choose your family“. As Amy & Mark’s wedding photographer from bridal preps to dancefloor shenanigans, my guess is that even if we could choose our families, Amy & Mark would have chosen theirs anyway.
