Teachers Emily & Ian were a lovely couple from South Croydon who got married at Westerham Parish Church and had their reception at Westerham Golf Club whose staff did an amazing job, as usual.
You can tell when a couple are happy and these two are a happy pair. It seemed that they didn’t stop smiling and laughing all day. And it was infectious. Ian’s sense of humour kept their couple-shoot fun and relaxed and I don’t think Emily’s smile waned throughout. An Ice-cream van provided nostalgic smiles and Ian’s Best Men provided nostalgic laughter. They even had two cakes, a traditional one and a fun one. Some guests played Guess Who with post-it notes stuck to their heads while others took mini polaroid photos of each other and hung them from their name-tags. Keepsakes for Emily & Ian depicting the fun had on their special day.
Many thanks to my wedding photographer friend David Fletcher who, at short notice, assisted me with Emily & Ian’s wedding as I had managed to tear my gastrocnemius (calf-muscle to you and me) while playing 5-a-side football a week beforehand. Fortunately the usual dose of adrenalin present during a wedding allowed me to photograph their day as usual but it was great to have David by my side just in case. He captured some great candid shots of the day as well as ones of Ian and his Groomsmen getting ready while I was with Emily.
I had informed Emily & Ian of my injury and that I had recruited a fellow photographer for peace of mind and their reaction was of concern for me, rather than for themselves. As I said, a lovely couple.
